The role

We are on the lookout for a Front-End Developer to join our growing digital team. You will build and maintain our internal websites and develop outstanding solutions for our international clients.

The role includes working on our existing websites built with WordPress and React (GatsbyJS), but also greenfield projects for clients, which you can have a major impact on by choosing the right tools for the job. These could be anything from microsites and full-scale websites to animated infographics and charts built with different libraries to the clients’ specifications.

Over the last year we have moved some of our internal sites to React, using the GatsbyJS framework, these sites are using different data sources, but mostly WordPress’ REST API or the Contentful headless CMS with GraphQL.

Top responsibilities

The Digital team at Raconteur is a small but integral part of the business. Sitting within the Creative Services division, which includes the Design, Editorial and Production teams, the Digital team is playing a fundamental role in shaping the future direction of the company. Over the past 12 months we’ve embarked on an ambitious series of projects with the aim of improving our internal products. This will culminate in the complete redesign and rebuild of our main publishing site,, which will be completed by the end of 2019.

The big focus for next year will be greenfield projects for clients. As each client project is unique you will have the opportunity to devise exciting, bespoke solutions and will be given the freedom to choose the right tools for the job. Developer input at all stages of a project is important to us as a wider team so your input on design, structure and content will be valuable and recognised.

Whilst we are close-knit team, there will be lots of autonomy in the role so you will need to have plenty of drive and passion. However, learning and development is a core focus for Raconteur, with a dedicated budget for internal and external training for each employee, so you will receive all necessary support.
